I have wanted to create and use my own custom textures for a while now. I started by doing some simple cratered surface texture, and then I fiddled around with a 10k map where I did a lot of craters in various sizes. Before I knew it I was doing a full blown 10x10 6 player FFA map with hundreds of props and decals, and trying to balance it for some great multiplayer gaming.

Elysion XL

I wanted to do a 40 k version of this map as well. After reading long posts about the annoyance of late-game turtle fests, I have tried to spread out the resources in order to force players to expand and fight for territory.

Other than that this map follows the exact same blueprint as the 20k version, the main difference of course being 4 times as much space.

Did quite a lot of polishing. Refined texture map. Added decals and more props.

Resevoir

Review on Supreme Commander Files : -Buckfast76

This is a 4 player 20 x 20km map with each player starting in one corner of the map. Though technically it looks like theres a narrow land trail allowing land units to travel around the edge of the map, these should be easily defendable, meaning naval and air forces should win the day. The map is symetrical with 12 mass points in each corner and 2 hydrocarbon points so theres no advantage to any player.

This is another great addition to Johanaz's already impressive collection of maps .I think maybe it should have been called reseRvoir, but at the end of the day the developer can call it whatever they want.

The map looks great, the dark greens and misty water make me think of a scottish loch. Though the monster lurking beneath the surface is more like to be a Monkeylord (or 12) ready to pwn your base. I tried this map in FA and it worked aswell (you'll need to copy it into your main FA directory / maps folder) Download, play, comment, and enjoy!

Desert Quarry

Review on Supreme Commander Files : -Buckfast76

A nice lttle, fast action team battle map here from Libra. Its 5km x 5km , supporting 4 players (2 on each side) so you can play 2 v 2 , 1 v 1, or if you fancy a challenge 1 v 2. Each team gets 8 mass points and a hydrocarbon point on their side of the map, theres 8 further mass points in the centre of the map to fight over. Theres no water so its land and air units all the way!

I had a quick game on the map and really enjoyed it. Theres a nice use of ridges of land, meaning you have to funnel your units through choke points. As you can see from the screenies it looks good and I believe this is Libra's first map. If this is anything to go by, lets hope he keeps up the good work! Feel free to comment your thoughts on the map.

Greater Earth Battle A

Greater Earth Battle A: Ver. 3 Size: 80 X 50

A larger world map with deeper seas and optimized for SupCom play.

I used to play the Earth maps by HazardX (World Domination) and the modification of it by Baleur (Earth Conquest), but was frustrated many times during play by the shallowness of the seas in places and the cutoff of parts of the world. These maps were based on a topo that had been cropped, leaving off parts of the Pacific including New Zealand and Alaska. Also, it was impossible to use naval units in the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Sea of Japan, the Baltic Sea, the Great Lakes, among others, and no passage through the Panama Canal or the Suez. Making SupCom maps from topological maps are fun and a good thing; however, a certain amount of modifications must be done to make them playable in a practical sense in SupCom. I realized that trying to modify the existing maps was not going to get me what I wanted. So I searched out a new source for the topological height map for my map. I found it at the Blue Marble web site. By combining their world topo with their ocean bottom topo and converting it with some modifications into a height map grayscale (this was NOT an easy process), I was finally able to render what I was looking for. I hope many will appreciate this version and enjoy it as I do. Thanks to HazardX for the inspiration and his early efforts.

Height and texture maps generated from topographical data from the Blue Marble Project, edited in PhotoShop 6. Post work done in HazardX Map Editor.

Being posted in Version 3 here, for the first time.

Unzip downloaded file and place resulting folder named "SCMP_MVCX_04w" with all its contents into your SupCom game "Maps" folder. It should then be available in the game's map listing to be selected.

To uninstall the map, just delete the file folder "SCMP_MVCX_04w" from the SupCom game "Maps" folder.

Waterworld Wars

Waterworld Wars: Ver. 3 Size: 80 X 80 4 player

A mostly water map with small islands, large sea expanses, and very deep impassable ocean bottom. The ACU generation points are far apart and the islands are too small for extensive bases and too far apart for tech 3 artillery to reach. If it can’t fly or float, it’s just a base defense on this map. Naval and air units are critical to victory, and long-range missions are the norm. Watch out for air units depleting their fuel reserve and slowing down considerably.

Waterworld Wars was created in response to a request of a family member who wanted a good naval battle map in 80x80 size. He did not like what was at that time available because it grouped the opponents to close together to really take advantage of naval forces and because land based experimentals could just walk underwater to attack an opponent base. This map provided the separation of opponents and made it impossible to walk anything from island to island on the bottom of the sea. The number of players was restricted to 4 to make the map feel even larger.

Height and texture maps created in PhotoShop 6, and post work in HazardX Map Editor.

Originally released on supcomsource.net in its early versions. Being posted in Version 3 here, for the first time.

Venus

Venus is a barren and rugged planet with no water and temperatures in the 900 deg.F range. About the same size of Earth, but closer to the Sun and with a very thick, toxic atmosphere, Venus presents a very challenging venue for SupCom battle. A good land only map that has some very rough, high terrain and natural choke points, and few mass locations.

Was playing on the Mars map by Iridium 191 and was thinking what other planets could be had for SupCom maps. I realized that I already had a topo of Venus in my screen saver on my computer. So, with a little work in Photoshop 6 to convert the color map into a grayscale height map, I created this Venus map. Original topo from NASA radar image, and post work in HazardX map editor. Colors in texture map are entirely imaginary, of course. No snowcaps or vegetation at 900deg.F.

Originally released on supcomsource.net in its present form. Being posted here for the first time.

Zorg Outpost

This time we have a Cybran settlement in the foothills of Mount Brackman surrounded by a canal. The battle takes place on the outside unless of course you wish to take on the settlers...
(They will defend themselves)

Ideally 4 players, however this map can have up to 8 players (more mass will spawn with p5-8).

The canal will take ships of any size - and experimentals can cross. The settlers should be able to fend off any T1 aggressors, so make sure to bring enough firepower...

Fields Of Travel

Air power will be important, but air alone can't get mass built. And the big question, How soon do you go for the center mass, maybe even before you take the other mass in yor area?

I converted a TA map to supcom using the original heightmaps. It ain't the prettiest thing in the world, and it's got more mass than gd2 had metal (because of the size difference) but it is definitely Great Divide 2.

Spawn points are in each corner. If there are requests, i'll boost this map to support 8 players instead of 4.

Castle

In this wonderfully crude 2v2 map players are invited to hole up in one of two fortresses. But, since this is supreme commander, its not your average fort. The walls are a few hundred feet high. So high in fact that my bombers often skimmed the top, bounced off and did a barrel role (not kidding). The walls come complete with ramps big enough for any normal land unit. Here's a quick picture to give you the general idea.

The strategy behind this madness? The same as in a medievaI siege.

Fight for the middle ground, box your opponent in, scale the walls and rain down death. The hard points on the wall are big enough for tactical missile launchers, artillery and even an air factory. The main way to eliminate an opponent is likely to be a surprise landing on his walls.

Important Notes

To save people some frustration id like to say a few things so you know what your in for.

* Artillery bounces off your opponents walls
* Point defences built on walls will only target enemy units that are on the walls.
* There is an entire forest from sentry point buried beneath the map that causes some strange stuff when building. I'm not happy about it either but it wont affect game play too much.

Hopefully this cheesy little creation will inspire you to create something as well. If people like the concept I've got more than a few ideas on planned assault style maps like this.

I converted a TA map to supcom using the original heightmaps. It looks pretty decent, mass points are in the same locations as the original GoW, but the map is larger so they are farth apart.

May make v2.0 smaller, we shall see.

Rhode Island 3844

8 player map spanning the entire state of Rhode Island in full, genuine scale.

Its not as heavy on mass as my previous map, Martian Domination, but it still provides a lot of incentive to spread out as early as possible. The lopsided land/sea arrangement, and the twisting passageways of the bay, should provide for an interesting experience.

River Blitz

5*5 1v1 map. 8 mass points to each side ensure a decent amount of resources, but space is at a premium.

While it is certainly not a carbon copy, the inspiration for this particular map is from Ren's Valley. For a two player map 8 mass points is decent. However, aside from the first 4 mass points, the rest are spread out and there is no hydro carbon points.

The real problem is with all the craters, the mountains and the river, building space is somewhat limited. So you have to watch where you are putting your buildings. The river ensures that straight rushing will be difficult, but don't forget the transports!

Icebowl

10 by 10, 8 player map. Corner sections have walls and a single choke point for superior defence. Open start points have an additional pair of mass points at start. Map has a large amount of mass resource points spread throughout it. Centre is also shaped like a large bowl.

Remake of Deadbowl. Now boasts decorations and props. Mass count reduced to slow things down a bit. Still generous though. Map has been switched to a tundra type cause I felt like it.

Map was made to be a small and dirty 8 player game. Lots of mass, but the bases are all pretty close together so it is easy to become locked in a fight right next to someone. Corner players have a big defence bonus in the high walls and the choke point. Open players have more mass to start with to even out how open they are to attack. The abundance of resources gives whoever is able to expand a good advantage. If you turtle, you should be in trouble. The center point is literally at the bottom of a big bowl as well as being in the middle of the map and makes it very difficult to hold onto.

Blasted Pass

6km high by 10km long, 2 player map. Passes are thin but will still allow units as large as experimental units through. Map built for 1 vs 1 play with resources spread throughout the centre of the map.

1vs1 map with an abundance of choke points. (Turtle players rejoice). If I've learned anything however, all those choke points wont help you against truly skilled players. T2 artillery cannot shoot over the mountains in this map, just too damn high. In terms of borders, the map is as large as Isis.

Deep Valley

I wanted another team map other than what was officially available, and through preference or personal failing, I'm not terribly fond of navy. I also wanted to make some mountains that actually mattered. The map isn't quite as packed as the blasted pass map but that's necessary for a larger game after all. T2 artillery wont fire over the mountains although T3 and T4 artillery should be fine (not including the fatboy, its guns have a relatively low arc of fire).

Problem: The mountains are so high that planes have to stop and fly straight up to get over them. This makes troop drops harder to do. scouts are also much harder to destroy since they are so far above the enemy aa. Nukes also seem to have a reduced effectiveness, the range and damage is reduced. I don't know why this is.

Europe V2

Authors Notes 

In this 3v3 Map Teams fight for control of the European continent. The map is accurate (based off a real map) and smooth. Take advantage of amphibious tanks, destroyers and super weapons to launch massive invasions on your enemies. Gameplay has been carefully thought out and tested. The map is as balanced as i could possibly make it.

The team positions on the map allow for various styles of play to compliment each other. Some places, like Ireland for example, are very remote and allow time for the player to get to late tech 2 before ever seeing an enemy. Other places like the Spain, France and central Europe are lilkey to see rushes and large battles for position early on. Each player has several mass extractors at their disposal with two neutral fields of mass to be fought over (one around Germany and another in Sardinia).

Island Siege

40x40 Island map. Built for 4 vs 4 play. Outer islands have more mass, but are seperated meaning the players on the outside have to make better use of what they have. Center Islands have less mass and a bit less space, but those players can much more easily help each other.

Had a request for a sort of king of the hill style map. This is what I came up with. I also wanted to so something that was non symmetrical to try and spice things up. Unfortunately the textures and lack of props render the map somewhat bland. There are no super high mountains in this map.
